She Den Elements

Elements of the She Den

-Essential and Optional!

In a voice much like Helen Mirren with the sound of birds chirping, water bubbling and harp twinkling in the background.

( I do apologize for not being able to credit the owners of some of these photo's as they're internet finds and were not titled. I will gladly retitle to the proper owners or remove upon request)

What is this space, the rival to the man cave? Well, in some ways similar and in some very different. Like the Man Cave it’s individual, and reflects favourite things. Unlike the Man Cave the She Den should never involve spilled cheesy puffs, bursts of raucous cheering, and the heavy smashing of beer steins-but that is entirely up to the She Den dweller!

The She Den is a space for the ‘she’ to relax and enjoy, be inspired and create. The Creating craft of the “She” may be several opportunities held within the walls of the She Den or a space just for writing! If you don’t already have a She Den here are a few elements to consider along with lovely photo's.

Storage and Organization-This could be visual or fully hidden. I do encourage studying photo’s to see how visual organization is displayed by size, colour, and type.

Work Space-Okay, this may be a desk, counter or table for your computer, machines and/or laying out crafting projects. Your workspace may be central within the room or off to the side.

Cozy Place- to lounge, read, craft, nap, drink tea ( or wine )…escape. This may be a big comfy chair, a window bench or settee, a day bed or even spare bed. Many She Den’s will multi-purpose into extra sleep space, unlike the Man Cave’s pass out zones (again discretionary to the She Den dweller).

Personalized Decorating- ‘no boys allowed’-but they can help. Whether it’s crisp minimal Scandinavian style to Shabby Upcycling this is where the “She” can really create a space that reflects her personality.

Great Lighting-The She Den will need appropriate lighting for working under. Not the kind you’ll find under the pumps at a gas station! Something warm a bright, maybe even a hanging chandelier unlike the style of the rest of the home, hanging twinkle lights over the work space, or several area’s of task lighting.

Display-The She Den will likely also include the chance to display unique items, collectibles and creations.

The She Den is all about taking a space a creating something that is personally reflective! It may be out of the bounds of the decor in the rest of the home and shows the "She's" ability to carefully plan her special space for retreating.
