Salt and Pepper Shaker Christmas Ornaments

Oh this is too much fun and so easy. Christmas ornaments made from upcylcled old Salt and Pepper Shakers! Great idea for your Christmas kitchen Chandelier too!

materials

Start with a few salt and pepper shakers, they don't have to match in size or style.

Your choice of craft glass paint.

thin ribbon

optional materials

mirror spray paint for mercury glass effect on outside

flatback crystals (or buttons )to decorate the top and centre of the lid bow

1. Give all of your shakers and lids a good bath.

While the lids are removed String a thin cord through two of the holes for hanging.

2. Next I squirt glass paint into the inside of each shaker, be patient, just gently move the paint around until coated and drain the exess back into your paint bottle.

3. Once the paint was dry I applied the mercury glass paint technique to the ouside of each shaker.

*OPTIONS....

you could opt to not paint the inside at all and use the mercury glass technique on the outside. Instructions for how to create a mercury glass spray finish are at my blog post Dream Wall Art Upcycle.

or

Only apply glass paint to the inside.

4. While the paint is drying you decorae your lids with thin ribbon, gems, buttons, sparkles..whatever is Christmas-y and wonderful!

TIP-first glue your ribbon band. Create your ribbon bows separately and glue on top of your bands.

My personal interest in the Salt and Pepper shaker Christmas ornaments was to create a whimsical Christmas Chandelier in our kitchen!
